Every piece of research tells us how important the pre-school years are. In the pre-school room children are preparing for going to school however it is vitally important that children are given the opportunity to develop as individuals before being taught in a classroom environment.
Each child is an individual and all have different needs, interests and learning styles therefore we use responsive planning to ensure that we incorporate appropriate activities and experiences to help support, develop and extend each and every child’s learning. We make observations of the children on a daily basis (written and photographic) and these are used to assess the children’s progress and inform the planning procedure. These observations and evaluations are recorded in the children’s personal profiles which are available to children and parents at all times.
Here at Buttons & Bows children are encouraged to learn through play. Whilst involved in any play experience, if children are having fun and are happy then they are learning without even realising it. In the Early Years, learning should never be mundane or a chore, it should be enjoyable, exciting and should be both recognised and celebrated by all.
In a nutshell we believe that happy children make better learners!
