Baby Room Image 1

This is our baby room. It is tailored towards our younger babies of up to approximately 1 year and provides the calm and secure environment that babies need. Our room is bright and spacious and has an abundance of toys and resources that are tailored to suit any baby's needs as well as a separate sleep room where babies have their own cot. Although the babies in this room are very young they still enjoy the same activities afforded to our older children e.g. sensory play, messy play, sand and water play etc.

All babies who are enrolled at Buttons & Bows are nurtured and cherished by our extremely caring staff.

In this room we use the " Pre-Birth to Three" guidelines promoting the 4 key aspects of the guidance which are the Rights of the Child, Responsive Care, Relationships and Respect.

Once the babies are walking or moving about more independently they are often ready to move into the Toddler Room. In this room staff provide a safe, nurturing and fun environment. They support and encourage the children to express and develop their own personalities whilst playing and having fun in all areas of the room. The Toddler room has a messy area where children enjoy lots of art and sensory activities as well as sand and water play. There is also a comfy story/rest corner, a home corner, a physical area and an area for construction. The children have the opportunity to play, to interact, to explore, to create and to problem solve.

Welcome to the Tweenies room where a stimulating and resourceful environment is provided to encourage the children to develop their own interests. During free play times children have the freedom to experiment using the resources and equipment available to them and staff ensure that any planned activities, experiences and additional resources are provided to extend their learning opportunities.

Children in this room also benefit from a structured group time (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). This allows key workers to have a closer look at their children's capabilities and stage of development. This also benefits the children especially the older ones in the room who are getting ready to move to pre-school.

Every piece of research tells us how important the pre-school years are. In the pre-school room children are preparing for going to school however it is vitally important that children are given the opportunity to develop as individuals before being taught in a classroom environment.

Each child is an individual and all have different needs, interests and learning styles therefore we use responsive planning to ensure that we incorporate appropriate activities and experiences to help support, develop and extend each and every child’s learning. We make observations of the children on a daily basis (written and photographic) and these are used to assess the children’s progress and inform the planning procedure. These observations and evaluations are recorded in the children’s personal profiles which are available to children and parents at all times.

Here at Buttons & Bows children are encouraged to learn through play. Whilst involved in any play experience, if children are having fun and are happy then they are learning without even realising it. In the Early Years, learning should never be mundane or a chore, it should be enjoyable, exciting and should be both recognised and celebrated by all.

In a nutshell we believe that happy children make better learners!

The garden is a haven for all areas of learning and children cannot help but have fun while learning outside. There are opportunities to run, jump and climb, pedal and push the cars and bikes. make dens and pretend play. There is a greenhouse where children can plant (and go on to eat) their own fruit and veg as well as grow flowers from seed. There are areas where children can then go on to plant and care for their newly grown flowers.

Our pre-school room has direct access to our outdoor space.

There is a separate garden area for our babies and toddlers ensuring their safety.
